10 Best Detox Infused Water Recipes to Lose Weight

Hydrating yourself with the proper amount of water is crucial for weight loss. A study even shows that drinking 2 cups of water before a meal can lower calorie intake by 13%.

Moreover, water is calorie-free, can help in reducing appetite, and in boosting metabolism. But even with these benefits, most people still find it challenging to reach their daily water requirement.

The reason is simple, life is busy and water is boring!

Some people even replace water with sugary beverages instead of the other way around to meet their daily water requirements. This is how most people gain weight.

(Sugary Beverages may quench your thirst, but they are not doing any favors to your body, especially if you are trying to lose weight)

The solution to this problem is detox water.

To put it simply, people who are bored with plain h20 infuse it with superfoods making it delicious, low in calories, and full of undeniable health benefits. The mix is called detox water.

What is Detox Water?

Detox water (Infused water) is water obtained by infusing water with fruits, herbs, or vegetables in any combination of your choice.

Since it’s obtained by soaking vegetables and fruits in plain water for few hours instead of juicing or blending, it’s generally low in calories and packed with nutrients & flavor.

How to Make Detox Water at Home

To make detox water at home, you need water, fruits, vegetables, herbs of your choice (If you are trying detox water for the first time, stick with a popular detox water recipe combination).

After selecting the ingredients, chop them into fine pieces then, add them to hot or cold water depending on your preference. The flavor of the drink will depend upon the ingredients you use. So, choose wisely.

Assuming you are making a cold drink, after adding ingredients leave the mixture in the fridge for 1-12 hours.

Pro Tip: Remove the ingredients within 12 hours

Benefits of Detox Water

The benefits of detox water are attributed to water itself along with the ingredient you use to make it.

Moreover, Ingredients will not be consumed in the whole form. As a result, you will not gain that many nutrients & calories from the ingredients.

For instance, Ingredients like lemons and other citric fruits are packed with vitamin C, which can help in boosting immunity.

But when these ingredients are used to create detox water, they may not boost your immunity to the extent when consumed raw.

So, you can’t rely on detox water for everything.

Most detox drinks will have the following benefits:

  1. Weight loss
  2. Boost in energy
  3. Better digestion
  4. Toxic removal
  5. Improves skin texture
  6. Hydration

A common myth related to detox water is that it can help in changing skin complexion. But the hydration can only help in improving your skin’s texture.

Personally, detox water helps me in avoiding caffeine.

Even with all these health benefits of detox water, there is a certain limit to the quantity of detox water you can consume in a day.

You should avoid drinking only detox water to meet your daily water goals. Most of the detox water recipes will contain ingredients high in certain vitamins or nutrients.

As a result, you may consume these ingredients beyond their upper limit, which can be harmful.

Is Detox Water Good For Everyone

Another myth associated with detox water is that it’s good for everyone.

No, it’s not. People with potassium restriction, renal insufficiency, kidney problems, heart disease, or other chronic medical conditions should avoid detox water.
