Sometimes life just isn’t simple. Maybe it’s fate, past, our action, or just dumb luck. However, one thing is sure our thinking is never the strong point in stressful situations.

We rethink everything, and when the situation passes away, we realize how dumb we were. It’s as if we lost 50 IQ points the moment the situation arrived, and now all of a sudden, we realize the problem was simple and required a simpler action.

The biggest challenge with stressful situations is our own emotions. We panic and rethink everything and are unnecessary emotional, all of this is normal, but this does result in a bad decision.

In this article, you will learn a 30-second trick that will help you in handling stressful situations and problems in your life rationally, helping you in making the best decision and taking the best course of action:

There are 5 steps to this trick:

Step 1. Take a piece of paper and note down all the stressful situations and the problems in your life.

Step 2. Separate the problems & situations into actionable and non-actionable. Actionable are the ones in which you can do something. Non-actionable are problems/situations that can not be influenced by your actions.

For instance, You have a job interview lined up, and you are not fully prepared for it. In this case, your problem is a lack of preparation. This is an actionable problem. What you need to do is prepare for it.

However, you have a job interview, and you are worried about the mood of your interviewer, whether or not your interviewer will be in a good mood. This is non-actionable. The best thing you can do is not think about it. What mood your interviewer has at the time of your interview can not be influenced by you.

Step 3. Cross out the non-actionable items on the list.

Step 4. Figure out what you need to do to solve the actionable problems & situations. Make a proper strategy to deal with them. Keep strategizing until you are sure that you have a plan to solve the problems.

Take a piece of paper. At the top of the page, write ‘The Plan.’ Now write down simple solutions to solve your problems and situations.

Ask someone for solutions, search online, think of a solution while you are out for a jog (You will find the most creative solution to your problems while jogging). Keep thinking until you find a solution and a plan to fix your problems & stressful situations.

Step 5. Focus on executing the plan. Your mind will keep shifting to imaginary situations and problems. However, You have to refocus yourself on the plan and how it will solve your problems and make your life great again.

Say to yourself, “I gotta do this!” Nothing more is needed. Don’t tell your brain to not think of the problem. Tell your brain to think of the solution and your plan.

Thinking about a situation never solves the situation. Taking action solves the situation.

However, the problem can be that you are too focused on the situation. As a result, all you see is the situation you are in and the problem.

Repeat to yourself the plan you need to execute to solve the problems so that all you think of is the plan. This way, you will clear your mind and focus on what will get you result and solve your problems.

Tip. Whenever you feel stressed, meditate for 10-15 minutes or practice the Wim hof method. If you feel blocked mentally and can’t meditate, go out for a jog. You will be amazed by how clearly you can think the moment you hit the road.

Do not add unnecessary complexity to your life.

Let things that do not matter truly slide cause if you don’,t the only thing you are going to get for all the mental space you give it is stress and pain.

Focus on the solution, focus on the plan, and take action. It’s as simple as that.

If you keep thinking about your situation or problem, you are not going to solve it or move forward. The only way forward is your plan. The only solution is your plan.

Right now, take a piece of paper and write down all the problems & stressful situations in your life, cross out the ones you can do nothing about, figure out a plan to solve the problems & situations you can, and focus on following the plan.
